Ariane de Hoog

Ariane de Hoog is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge University. As a German/Canadian, Ariane completed her schooling with the German Abitur and entered a four-year honours program at the University of Ottawa studying Communications. She was hired as a Communications Officer for the Department of Foreign Affairs in Canada in 2001 where she undertook projects relating to Government Online for over a year. Returning to school to complete her M.Phil (Masters) in Global Transformation and Modern Society at Cambridge University, Ariane decided to remain for her Ph.D. studies. With her team, Ariane is also working on an international study of workforce ageing in the new economy, funded by the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada. However, her Ph.D. topic specifically deals with gender issues in the information technology sector of the UK labour market.
